Unbelievably, this is not a common question we get asked when people are enquiring about our certification. “How much can you earn as a Life Coach in the UK?”
My guess is that because we’re based in the UK, us Brits aren’t great at discussing money, income, and abundance goals.
But if you’re coming into this and you’re serious about making it work for you as well as your clients, you need to have income goals and a business plan
So let me share what I know
When I first started
Back in 2013 when I graduated as a coach, my goal was simple: just try to earn at least what I was earning in my old job — which, for full transparency, was £37k pre tax and NI.
So I started working, charging per hour, sometimes too scared to charge what I actually wanted for fear of losing a client.
I was charging around £50 per hour, with little idea of how to attract clients, let alone any real business acumen.
When I got serious
A few things happened in those first few years. I started to develop my methodology, realising quite quickly that I wasn’t equipped with what I needed— tools that could get the kind of results I wanted for my clients. So I worked with case studies, researched and perfected until the Unbreakable Midnset Methodology was born®
I also invested in a business coach who knew exactly how to help coaches build their practices.
My offer
Working with case studies and developing my framework gave me a system that got results every single time. Clients who struggled with anxiety, lack of self-worth, self-sabotage, and mental barriers — time and time again I was getting them not to a state of coping, but thriving.
My coach rightly pointed out that I should be charging for the result, not my time. That’s when I changed my offer to £2,497 for 12 sessions, working together over around seven months. It was a number I felt comfortable with — and one that reflected the transformation my clients were experiencing.
What Life Coaches typically charge in the UK
Rates vary enormously depending on your niche, if you’re accredited, your skill set and how you package your offer. As a rough guide:
- New foudnation coaches start out: £50–£80 per session
- Established coaches with a proven framework: £100–£250 per session
- Package-based coaching (3–6 months): £1,500–£5,000+
- High-end or specialist coaches: £5,000–£15,000+ per programme
Conclusion
This is your practice, and you charge what you believe reflects the results your clients will walk away with.
Remember — Hermès, Chanel, Dior never once thought nobody will buy at this price. They decided what they were worth, and the people who shop luxury brands are those who believe in the value of what they’re getting. Not every millionaire drives an expensive car — some see more value in investing. A client might forgo a holiday this year because they’ve decided this is the year they invest in themselves.
Don’t downgrade the work you do based on what you believe about money.
