If you’ve decided mindset coaching is the path for you, the next question is how to choose a certification that actually sets you up to do the work. Here is how you decided which is the best Life Coach Certification for Mindset Coaching
Is it accredited, and by who?
Accreditation means the course has had to go through a series of standards to gain it. This will give you confidence as a student that you’re acquiring a professional certification — it also means that if the industry ever gets regulated, you’ve already trained on a course that’s gone through specific standards. Know that not all accreditations are the same, and my advice would be to look for ones accredited by one of the top 3: Association for Coaching, ACCPH, or ICF.
Does it teach a proven methodology, or just a toolbox?
Find out how the course is delivered and what you’ll be left with in terms of how you can actually use what you learn with real clients. Having a toolbox is great, but going into a session with a client and not knowing what to prepare and what is needed to facilitate those sessions will be detrimental to your client’s results.
Within our course, we don’t just give you a toolbox — we give you a proven framework that delivers results time and time again. There’s a way to use the tools and know what you need to prepare for each session, so you can work in a formulated way that allows your client to see and feel the transformation.
Does it do what you need?
Think about who your ideal client is and what they’re struggling with. Spend time collating this yourself before you decide on what you are looking for. If you struggle with this, my advice would be to think about why you want to become a coach. Nearly 90% of our coaches want to help people overcome something they have struggled with themselves, which is a great place to start in terms of your research.
Does the course provide results that align with what you’re hoping to create for your future clients?
Real coaching experience
A lot of courses will only get you coaching within your cohort — practising on classmates rather than real clients. This was never something I felt comfortable with when I set up the Academy. I believe you need real coaching experience before you take on paid clients, which is why within our Academy, you have to coach someone who would typically be your ideal client by the end of the course.
Look for a course that gives you ongoing supervision
If a course is accredited, it’s obligated to provide services that ensure you feel fully supported after graduation, so you can confidently coach paid clients. One of the things we offer in our Academy is graduate supervision — one session a month for client supervision, and one session a month for content and marketing strategy. Our goal is for you to do this work with as many people as possible and be fully booked.
Founder-led or corporate-run
Ask yourself how you want to be taught, and whether you align with the tutor teaching. I know from experience that one of the top reasons our students want to come and study with us is because they recognise something in my story that resonates with them and aligns with the work they’re trying to do. Our course is definitely not textbook — it’s a tried and tested methodology built on real-life experience with real-life clients.
